Surgical Services offered by Dr. Allan Kwok

Dr. Kwok, a distinguished surgeon, offers unparalleled expertise in Colorectal Surgery. His extensive training and commitment to excellence ensure top-notch care for a variety of conditions.

Endoscopy (Colonoscopy and Gastroscopy)

Endoscopy involves inserting a flexible fibreoptic camera to examine the inside of the oesophagus and stomach (via the mouth) or large intestine (via the anus) to detect a variety of conditions or diseases.

Common reasons for having this procedure performed include abdominal pain, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, rectal bleeding or a personal history of polyps. It is also an important tool in the early detection and prevention of bowel cancer. Endoscopy is performed as a day procedure with intravenous sedation to maximise patient tolerance and comfort. You will need somebody to accompany you home after the procedure.

Bowel Cancer
Surgery

When bowel cancer is diagnosed, surgical removal of the tumour is an important component of treatment in the majority of cases.

Depending on the location of the cancer, various surgical options may be available and a tailored approach will be discussed and offered to you as part of your consultation. Dr. Kwok offers a variety of approaches for bowel cancer surgery including minimally-invasive laparoscopic (‘keyhole’) and trans-anal techniques, if appropriate.

Benign Anal and
Rectal Conditions

Benign (non-cancerous) conditions of the anus and rectum include abscesses (infection), fistulas, fissures and haemorrhoids.

There are numerous ways to treat these conditions and a customised approach will be discussed with you, taking into account your preferences and any prior treatments you may have had. These procedures are usually able to be carried out as day procedures, meaning you will not usually need to stay overnight in hospital after treatment.

General Surgical
Procedures

Surgery is usually required to effectively treat common conditions such as appendicitis, gallstones and hernias.

Dr. Kwok has had extensive experience in treating these disorders and performs a large number of operations, usually via laparoscopic (‘keyhole’) techniques if it is safe and appropriate to do so.
